Tips from your host
- FRESH MARKET & FISH MARKET: Close ot bridge. Good if you are here longer and for morning visits to the town. You can just check it out and see what you can find, as well as go to the fish market which is placed inside the city walls. Why not buy some fish or shrimps and prepare a nice meal at home?
- BUTLER Gourmet&Coctails Garden: It’s this new exquisite place that everybody’s talking about. You should check it out to try.. well everything :)))
- La Famiglia (Street food bar): Small but cute, in a typical Zadar alley. Good for breakfast too. I would go there both for morning and day time.
- Bruschetta (Croatian restaurant): A nice looking restaurant where I mostly enjoyed evenings with girls before the night out. I think reservations should be made so check out.
- 4 Kantuna (Croatian restaurant): I was just there the one time, and I really liked the interior and the terrace. I tried pizza, and it was really good, but can’t speak for other food. The restaurant is a a bit more expensive (i.e.pizza from 8€ to 15€) and portions are not really big, but the atmosphere of the old Zadar garden between the old buildings is really nice)
- Proto Food&More (Croatian restaurant): Average priced and really good quality food. You can eat anything there, from sea food to good meat and burgers and in a really nice atmosphere.
- Pašta i svašta (Italian food); you can find good priced sea food dishes with homemade pasta.
- Stomorica (Konoba is typical Dalmatian old school restaurant), where I mostly ate „girice“, calamary, mussels, brudet (fish stew), or their Stomorica dish (includes girice). I will be honest, this is traditionally my favorite Konoba, it always had live music, and good atmosphere, but I haven’t been there for over a year and I can see some not so good reviews on Trip Advisor recently so pay attention.
- City Laguna: I never visited but had lots of guests who went there and were very happy. Ambient and location is awesome, it is a bit above average priced as for local standard, but good food.
- Foša (Sea food restaurant) more expensive than average but has Michelin recommendation, been there long time ago and had amazing meal, but it is not a place I can visit often.
- The Garden Lounge (raw, vegan, vegetarian options) I like my beers here too, but it is good for breakfast too. This is the only place with this raw and vegan options in Zadar.
- Harbor The food I ate there was ok, the prices a bit more than average, but man I like the design and location. Across the bridge from old town with view on the old town and bridge. Try it on the evenings..
- Bistro Gourmet Kalelarga: On Peoples Square, but nice ambient inside, good food and prices too. You can have a complete menu for 80kn, if on a budget. You can sit outside and inside.Good for lunch.
- ICE CREAM PLACES: Slastičarna Donat or Gelateria Eva
Note: I did not try all the restaurants in Zadar, nor I go frequently, but these are traditionally my favorites. There are so so so many recommendations on Trip Advisor and newly open restaurants and peoples reviews so why not also do your own research for what catches your eye.
