Welcome! So you have finally arrived! Now that you are all settled you would probably like to know some things like:
- where exactly are you?
- how can you move around?
- how to connect to the internet?
- what to do with the trash?
- where you can go grocery shopping?
- where you can go have a beer or watch a sunset… ?
Don’t worry, I got you covered! 🙂
WHERE ARE YOU?
So you are in the neighborhood known as Borik, named after pine trees that used to grow all around before all the houses grew so big. It is a neighborhood oriented toward Puntamika and Borik beach. Traditionally it was the touristic part of the town, before the Old Town hype began. So here you can really relax listening to crickets in the summer, or just rest your ears from all the usual traffic noises (hopefully there won’t be any construction work done while you are around).
HOW TO MOVE AROUND?
From here it is best to move around with a bike or a car, depending where you want to go, but we also have a bus stations near by that can take you to the beach or to the old town. You can also use a taxi or an Uber for relatively cheap price.
LOCAL BUS TIPS:
There are three buses that drive in this area: 5A (Puntamika), 5B (Žmirići), 8A (Diklo). Be sure to check the bus schedule, before you depart. On the following map you can find the location of the most important bus stops for you.
- Žmirići station: The bus stop closest to the house, only 2 minute walk (street Nikole Božidarevića), the bus line 5B.
- Borik škola station: Around 7 min walk for this station, but with more frequent buses, as it is intersection of 3 bus lines (5A, 5B, 8A)
- Mala pošta station: This is your exit or entrance station when you head on to the Old Town.
- Zadar Main Bus station: This is your exit if you are heading to the main bus station to travel further, or get an airport bus.
TAXI / UBER TIP:
Since the bus ticket is 10 kuna, if there is two of you, sometimes it pays off to just take an Uber or some cheap taxi. Uber can sometimes be as cheap as 25kuna, while Cammeo taxi will also take up to that amount. If you are going to the old town, take Taxi or Uber to Ulica Stjepana Radica 10, close to the bridge on Branimirova obala. That way you just cross the bridge in one minute, instead of taking a taxi route all around the peninsula and being charged almost double.
BICYCLE TIP:
If you are using bikes, do a lungo-mare tour to the old town, or explore Kolovare and Karma street, the other part of town. When in old town, you can lock the bikes on the bike parking, next to the main gate after you cross the bridge. Please make sure to always lock the bikes and treat them responsibly so that they remain in good shape for other people as well.

TRASH
We separate and recycle. We don’t want to bother you with it on your holiday, but if you feel like you want to help save the planet, you too can separate plastic, paper, glass and compost.
- Composter is in the garden and inside you can throw: eggshells, fresh vegetable peels, fruit peels (except lemon, orange, mandarins), coffee grounds
- Plastic, paper and glass can be separate and given directly to Ljiljana, Niko or Nina, or you can leave it in front of the garage. (We will store it in the garage, and there is a truck once every 2 weeks that picks it up)
- Ordinary trash you can throw in the big green bin in front of the house.
GROCERY SHOPING
- Supermarket Plodine: Big supermarket where you can buy almost anything. 7min walk from the house.
- Mini Market Bakmaz: If you need only basic things like bread and milk in the morning, it is 2min walk from the house, just after the Hotel Mediteran.
- Fresh Market: Lets say you want something fresh, not from the supermarket, but don’t feel like going all the way to the old town. There is a cute little fresh market with just a few producers selling on a few stands in the street Put Petrica 30. You will see it on the street.
NEAREST BARS AND RESTAURANTS:
- Nearest Bar is Buillard Club: Good selection of beers. I prefer it during winter months because interior gives good atmosphere and they give free popcorns, but summer can be ok if you just want a beer near the house and don’t want to drive or walk.
- Restoran Šime: This is one of the oldest restaurants in Borik area, operating since I was child. Always good portions, always full. 2 min walk.
- Steak & Grill Max: Nice fancy burgers (and other meaty stuff) near the house; 4 min walk.
- Congo (Great Pizzaaaa); don’t miss it!
- Mamma Mia: Good reviews, always full with guests which means fresh food. 7 min walk.
- Punta (Fish food): Good food, nice romantic atmosphere
- Niko (Fish food): somewhat pricier
SUNSET:
If you don’t feel like going to the old town, do your sunsets on Borik Beach, maybe around caffe Maestral. Thich is also my favorite place to go on the beach. You can go to the Famous Beach Bar & Grill too. In the Bamboo bar you can enjoy evening drink, but not witness the sun setting into the sea 🙂
Hope you enjoy your stay, and if you have any more questions, just ask, message or call.
