Krka Waterfalls

National Park Krka Waterfalls is a beautiful destination. It is similar to Plitvice lakes, but a lot smaller. There is one big waterfall and a lot of smaller ones. The waterfalls are part of Krka river and placed southern from Zadar, closest to the little town called Skradin. The specific about Krka waterfalls, is that the local authorities allow swimming in the water (only in the lake under the biggest waterfall) and since it is a lot smaller then Plitvice, you get to see everything in a day. There is also somewhat less crowd. For more info study the website: http://www.np-krka.hr/en/

  • NO CAR-NO PROBLEM: RECOMMENDED TOUR: Jadera Booking Agency

National Park Krka you can reach by using the bus from the main bus station in Zadar. That would be your most affordable option. Check the main bus station for the buses for the little town called Skradin, and take the return ticket. The cost should be around 20Euros for the return trip per person. Here is the link: MainBusStation.

Other option is the same type of tour as mentioned in Plitvice lakes post: a taxi minibus. It picks you up at your address and takes you to the national park with a stop at the supermarket and then waits for you for until about 17-18 PM to bring you back home. This is the easiest way to get there if you don’t have a car. The price is 40€/person, but contact me to fix you up with a 30Eur deal. This agency also offer agency discount for the NP tickets. Explore everything on their site: https://jadera-booking-agency.hr/item/krka-waterfalls-excursion/. There is no guide for this tour, but really, isn’t it better to set you own tempo and enjoy the nature on your own terms. In example, chose your own place for a picnic, photo or to catch a breath.

  • IF BY CAR:

If by car, turn the google maps and GPS on, closest town is Skradin and you can even park there just ask the locals the way to Krka Waterfalls so you park closer to entrance. The drive from Zadar should take about 1 hour, and if you start early you can maybe even combine the Krka with a visit to Šibenik town, if you won’t be too tired. Šibenik is a small town so you can see the whole old town in 2 hours. The key is in good organization and some research. Again, start as early as you can, even 6AM is not too early, that way you will avoid the crowds and the highest sun.
